I think about a story I heard one time of a group of birds perched on a stained glass church window, looking inside. Each bird insisted to the other that the inside of the room was a different color than the other; one bird insisted the inside of the room was green, the other bird insisted the inside of the room was red, the other bird insisted purple; each bird insisted the other was wrong, but each bird was still technically right and just looking through different portions of the stained glass colors, they were all a little right and all a little wrong, but they were still looking in the same room…

This is what I feel is one of the negatives about religion and how it can turn people away. All of you believe in the same God, and you’re fighting with each other.

I am a huge fan of debates and discussion, and religion is one of oldest forms, but you’re telling eachother one is going to hell for issues I really don’t believe God would send someone to hell over as long as they are a good person with love in their heart and actions

I believe the Bible is very useful but yes I believe it is not necessary for a relationship with God.

You know as well as anyone else that the Bible is interpreted in many different ways by many people’s. It’s been translated in over 1000 different languages over 1000s of years. We have a hard enough time translating languages exact TODAY. It’s why we don’t refer to them as translators but interpreters

Different churches have different interpretations and messages. There’s different sects within the Christian religion.

What about a person who physically can not read, and has to rely on someone they trust to read and share the message for them, and that person has a different interpretation of the verses? They are not exactly easy to read as it is

I just really don’t like this attitude I see of you and dido gleefully telling others they’re going to hell while also spewing a lot of hateful comments about women and minorities and all sorts of things in other threads, but can so confidently tell integrity he’s going to hell because your views on the Bible don’t align perfectly


I love the discussion of the Bible. I Enjoy seeing integrity and vantexan debate, but I just don’t feel it’s right to so confidently say someone is going to hell, especially when that person is, by all accounts I can see, a decent man who is trying to share the love of god that he has experienced.

I’ve prayed to god before I ever read the Bible. Was I not talking to the same God then as I was after learning and reading a Bible verse?

I’m grateful for the discussion, and I always want to learn more, but there is a lot of unnecessary hate and fighting which I feel is a wrong use of energy, when all of you essentially have the same goal. At least you should

I’m not saying it says that, it’s just what I believe. I don’t think God would send a good person to hell. Maybe they wouldn’t go to heaven, immediately, but still given chances to see the truth. But I don’t believe God would send good people to torture for eternity for that

What the living God says is much more important than what the Bible says. The Bible is useful. I love it too. I love God more though.

I believe @BrownFlush and @vantexan, seem to struggle with the unseen God, many individuals believe their faith and God is bound by pages and the binding of a book. I believe this is a fear based faith.

Just because the Bible is the greatest book of all time, actually a group of a variety of literature complied as decided by the Catholic Church, it is still just a book.

I believe nothing happens In God’s world by mistake so I do believe He has a reason for those individuals and, denominations or sects (even those who don’t see themselves as denominations or sects) to worship a written code and don’t acknowledge and the Word made flesh, Jesus. Much like some of the established religion of Jesus time. God has a purpose and plan for them too.

Do they even know Him?, that is not for me to say, that is between them and God.

I suggest they look up and cry out to the living God of the universe for this answer but unfortunately my guess is they will look to the pages of a book for their understanding.

I appreciate your communication of your understanding in this post. Seems to be very Spirit led. You seem to be very open minded to the infinite God of the universe.
