Seems like I should start looking for another job

Here in northeast Ohio, was told by union rep. this morning that our center was closing. No time frame was set, but said that a 90 day written notice had to given. I've been hearing this periodically for 20yrs so I'll believe it when I see it but seems like this is the closest to be the real deal considering all else that's gone on.
Brutal. What are your plans if it does, will you follow your work?

You can definitely transfer if your building is shut down. Seniority will be dovetailed.
Not sure... I'd have to go check it out and see what I'd ge getting into on their preload. My job might not even be available??
Absolutely dovetail in. Just depends on how far away the work goes. Are you willing to make that commute or even move?
Similar situation here. We have a center two hours from us closing. They have a preload, we are driver sort n load. Not sure how much work we are taking and how much the other centers also two hours away are taking.

Check your WARN notices. This may be one of the links you may do this at.

It sounds like the writing is on the wall. Keep checking on WARN and find out all the info(seniority lists etc) you can on the center(s) That will be absorbing the work.

GOOD LUCK

Low seniority could be doomed. If they close a building, the work can be followed.
We follow our work, but does that mean my job as a driver or my exact route? What happens to someone who their route gets shoved to a center farther than their house and another center would be closer than the center their route was moved to. Do they have the option to give up bid route and choose to be utility driver at a center closer to home?

Do you need an air compressor or tire gauge

Your route is your bid work...you would follow your area. As far as your route/area the routes being moved to another building would be posted and you would first be given the opportunity to follow your route. If you chose not to then your route would be put up for bid but for the understanding that it would be moving to another building. If you chose to not follow then you'd become coverage driver in seniority order until next bid time.

So to answer your questions...following work is exact route and yes you'd have the option to not follow your bid route and become utility driver

Correct me if im wrong if your center splits and you choose to follow your route to another building you decide that you want to come back to original center you can only do so if a new position in your job category is being offered and there is a timeline to do so of 3 years i think...I may be wrong
