If you are thinking like that then no one should be able to transfer in or out of the mechanic classifications at all then.Lets say a Teamster mechanic who was hired full time at 21 years old and at 51 decides he wants to drive PC or feeders. Do you think it would be fair for him to use his 30 year seniority to get the best driving bids? I cant see any driver he beats on seniority being happy.
Im IAM so I dont know if this is even possible. But I do not think this would be fair.
For selfish reasons I'm not for it. Would all routes in package be re-bid using the one seniority list? If yes, I'm not for it. I would probably lose my bid routeA fellow 177er.. What's up brother?
I'm not in Local 177, correct me if I'm wrong?
NewsFlash!!! Most of the posters in this thread aren't in L177. BC is a wide open forum, and you don't set the rules on who can post where. Why do you care? You are not in local 177... Just worry about your own local... This has nothing to do with you.
No... they will not re-bid... This will not change bidding language... Everything stays the same... Nothing changes... You just carry your seniority when you transfer to another classification...For selfish reasons I'm not for it. Would all routes in package be re-bid using the one seniority list? Never said I did set the rules... It does state in the rules that you should not post anyone's name and there are clowns that are... So I wouldn't be sticking up for the opposing side for to long... It's just going to make you look bad... They are going at it the wrong way... The members that are fighting for this are going at it the right way and some members are getting upset because they are getting good at it... This always gets brought up every 3 to 5 years (which makes it a problem)... Now this time it has taken off... It's so big that it can't be stopped...NewsFlash!!! You beat me to it.NewsFlash!!! Most of the posters in this thread aren't in L177. BC is a wide open forum, and you don't set the rules on who can post where.

If you are not changing the bidding language you shouldn't have to re-bid any of the routes...But if they change everyone's seniority date, how are they not re-bidding routes? What's the point then? If you're right then I'm all for it
Sure it can be stopped, any proposal can be stopped, and in L177 it only takes one guy. Read your bylaws. BTW, I don't have a side. Just posting facts to counter your opinions.Never said I did set the rules... It does state in the rules that you should not post anyone's name and there are clowns that are... Listen, this is way to big... Do you think a group of elected officials would go against a majority of members on a issue... Come on you are smarter then this...Sure it can be stopped, any proposal can be stopped, and in L177 it only takes one guy. Read your bylaws. BTW, I don't have a side. Merry Christmas
Merry Christmas to you too...Sure it can be stopped, any proposal can be stopped, and in L177 it only takes one guy. Read your bylaws. BTW, I don't have a side. Just posting facts to counter your opinions.
Merry Christmas
What makes you think that? All your old buddy's are out of the hall in less then a week... Sorry bro, doesn't look good for you... Merry ChristmasI am voting NO! It will not even make to the negotiation table since it will be shot down way before the Company and the Union sit down for negotiations! Merry Christmas!
It also would not be smart.Lets say a Teamster mechanic who was hired full time at 21 years old and at 51 decides he wants to drive PC or feeders. Capone and east coast aren't worried if this seniority change is smart or fair they only care about what is best for them personallyIt also would not be smart.
Experience in a specific job has to count for something.
In US armed forces, when you transfer to another job classification you don't get stripped of your rank and time in service... So what you are saying is that all men and women of the armed forces are selfish?Capone and east coast aren't worried if this seniority change is smart or fair they only care about what is best for them personally
No they aren't because they aren't trying to change the rules they have in place to suit specifically their needs like you guys areIn US armed forces, when you transfer to another job classification you don't get stripped of your rank and time in service... So what you are saying is that all men and women of the armed forces are selfish?
So why aren't part timers porters clerks seniority included with your proposal also under your premise why would center to center transfer not be included......I'll tell you why it's because that affects you negativelyAt UPS ,as an employee you are recognized and awarded by the years you have served with the company ,for example pension allocation goes up according to years of service , vacation allocation goes up according to years a service , safe driving awards , years of service awards, being placed on a list to transfer it to A Nother classification , being laid off . Point being when you work at a company with a union shop and you are afforded the opportunity to transfer to another department the way that teamster is differentiated from other teamster is by the amount of years they have served with the company ,not where you work .everyone is doing the same identical job, so when the question comes up like in many walks of life and you say who goes first ,it's the one Who was here the longest , that's why classification seniority is a direct violation of what Seniority really means .
