Termination

No, I do not believe excessive swearing should be normalized. I also don’t believe that termination without warning should be normalized.
Just seems like something is missing. Generally swearing doesn’t trigger this response.
Was it demeaning to women, alternative lifestyles or threatening in any way? Do you live in a woke area or in a rural area?

I can’t advise you unless i know the whole story. Hang in there.

I presented the story as it was presented to me. I told said employee if what was explained is the truth then you just ride it out and hope that the process of protecting you as a union employee actually works.

If there is more to the story then you need to learn from it and do better.

Appreciate the response. Unfortunately it doesn’t seem to add up. Article 17 was already presented with the list of things that get you terminated. If it’s a he said she said then it will work itself out.
I have a feeling some nasty stuff was mentioned and the comments were made (and over heard) by someone in the community mentioned earlier. Gotta be professional on the job.

If that’s the case then. How does @Turdferguson still have a job

Why are you assuming this is a Central Region Supplement issue?

The dude was probably doing a girl on his route and he broke it off and now the woman is ticked.

Hope his wifey doesn't find out.

Termination Letter says this infraction fell under (i)
other cardinal offenses, the Company and the Union agree that there are offenses where an employee may be suspended in lieu of discharge. Discharge under this subsection should only be used in situations where the employee's actions are so egregious that he/ she needs to be removed from the workplace immediately to pro- tect employees, customers, and/or the Company. When an employ- ee is removed from service, the Union will be notified by the Dis-
trict Labor Manager or his/her Labor designee.

But they didn’t just suspend they sent a termination letter.

Yikes. Sounds a little deeper than what was originally posted.
Keep us posted on how it proceeds.

I talk to other truck drivers on the phone all day. Although I try to be conscious of my surroundings, I am sure consignees have overheard me saying some choice words in casual conversation at some point. Not a big deal if it really went down the way she is portraying it.
How could you possibly talk to drivers on the phone all day? I barely want to talk to anybody for the 5 or so minutes before pcm. When I first started the job, the younger drivers would call me and want to talk. That ended pretty soon after they realized I don't have Bluetooth equipped.

Sometimes I listen to a podcast instead. No way I am going out there with nothing in my ear and just listening to my own thoughts all day. I am not that comfortable with myself.

It sounds like someone on the dock heard him and the word got passed on to one of the office bosses who blew it out of proportion. I agree you do need to watch your behavior in public because someone is always watching.
UPS Driver is a high profile job . You have to be on the alert for all you say and do out there. People will call in on you for many reasons, jealousy is one big reason. A lot of people wish it was them in that truck and not you.
